8 Day Grandfather Clock by James Mitchell of Mandes Court, High Street, Sunderland, Co. Durham. Circa 1800. Flame mahogany case with fine boxwood inlay and boxwood and ebony fan inlay to the corners in the base, bracket feet. Flat to the top of the hood and mixed wood chamfered pillars with Corinthian capitols. Arched painted dial with a seated lady in a pastoral scene in the cartouche. Raised gilded gesso decoration surrounding delicately painted Ranunculi and Carnations to the corners. Date and seconds ring. Hourly striking on a bell. Works cleaned and fully serviced. 5 year guarantee. Delivery and set up available.
